Web-based event registration done well

For event registration there are quite a few options. Some companies choose to create their own web-based event registration. Others use companies who’s specific function is online event registration. In looking at the RegOnline Online Registration website, I found it very eas to navigate and easy to understand. Some sites have to many whiz-bang thingamajigs that are distracting and slow the site down. RegOnline is simple, with minimal, but pleasing graphics. When setting up your free account, the only downside I saw was there was nothing to indicate what information was optional and what information was required, yet there were three different colors of text boxes, which cause a bit of confusion as to what was required – all boxes except the website address were required I discovered after leaving a couple blank. However, something that I did like that I have not seen at any other site was targeted missing information page. Let me explain. Usually when you go to a site and have to register, if you neglect a box, or perhaps your passwords didn’t match (you know what I mean, you always have to enter the password twice right?), so anyway, when my passwords didn’t match and I left two boxes blank, the next page gave me only the password and missing information boxes. I didn’t have to re-enter any of the information I had already entered. That has always been a pet-peeve of mine on a web page. The site, surprisingly enough, was created in ASP.NET. I have found that many ASP.NET sites (mine included) can have a tendency to be a little slow. I give credit to the site designer in keeping the user in mind with the speed of the site.Â

The RegOnline manager is easy to use and navigate, a tree view on the left with information in the right pane gives one the familiar look and feel of the Windows Explorer.

All-in-all, I am very impressed with this site, and if I or my employers were going to host an event, I would certainly recommend RegOnline as the event registration system.
