Running Scared?
September 4th, 2008 under Elections, Politics. [ Comments: none ]

When I read things like this:

Barack Obama contends that he is more experienced in executive matters than Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin because he has managed his presidential campaign for the past 18 months.

image Ummmm….ooookaaayyyy. So….running for president, gives you more experience, and better qualifies you for the job of president, than running a state qualifies you for the mostly ‘wait and see if he dies’ position of vice-president? I have to wonder just how nervous is the camp of  Barack Hussein Obama that McCain picked Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate? Seriously, Does B.O. really expect anyone but the most loyal kool aid drinkers to actually believe that running a presidential campaign gives one more executive experience that running the largest, most wealthy state in the Union? Puh-leeeze.

“Well, my understanding is that Governor Palin’s town of Wasilla has, I think, 50 employees. We’ve got 2,500 in this campaign. I think their budget is maybe $12 million a year. You know, we have a budget of about three times that just for the month. So I think that our ability to manage large systems and to execute I think has been made clear over the last couple of years,”

For his illustration, even though she is the governor of the entire state, he talks about the size of her small home town of Wasilla, mentioning it has only 50 or so employees, and a small budget. Claiming that his campaign has more employees, and burns through three times the annual budget of Wasilla in a month.

Thinking about this leads me down a whole other line of thought. And that thought is ignorance. Like many people, B.O. comes of as completely ignorant of the Land of the Midnight Sun. I remember when I was living up in Alaska, and my mother was trying to send a package, some birthday gifts for the kids or something…anyway, the guy at the post office gave her a stack of forms to fill out. She asked why she had to fill these out, and he replied that they are required for any packages going to foreign countries. Um…ok, right.

My strong suspicion is that B.O. has never been to Alaska, and if so, has probably been only to Anchorage, and even then, probably didn’t travel more than 10 miles from the Airport.

Palin’s acceptance speech was incredible. I know of at least two die-hard Hillary fans who, after watching Palin’s speech, have proclaimed they will vote for McCain over B.O. because of Palin. Personally, I like her. She’s smart, witty, tough, and fairly easy on the eyes. Plus, I like the remark about the difference between a pit bull and a hockey mom being lipstick.

"…the primary is all but over."
February 13th, 2008 under Elections, Politics. [ Comments: none ]

It has been said ‘If you tell someone something enough times, eventually they will begin to believe it.’ I think that is just the thing that Republican Steering Committee Sen. Jeb Hensarling is hoping for. This is nearly word-for-word what Karl Rove said a few days earlier.

Meanwhile, back at the Whitehouse…
President Bush is touting how great and true a conservative John McCain is. If McCain is a "true conservative" like Bush, I shudder. President "I’ve never met a spending bill I didn’t like" Bush is miles, one might even argue, lightyears away from being a conservative of the Reagan type.

Don’t forget that McCain is pushing the open borders policy. Wanting to give amnesty to illegal aliens. Unfortunately, it looks like McCain is going to get the nomination for the GOP. This is distressing. I don’t know how I can, in good conscience, vote for John McCain. But then again, I know I can’t, in any type of conscience, vote for HIllary Clinton. The Democratic Convention is going to be all fired up. Obama and Clinton are neck and neck. No clear winner heading into it. I don’t know the last time it was that close.

If Obama wins it, he will be the next president. I don’t see anyway that McCain beats that guy. Even with his spending six years in an Islamic school and his father being a Muslim. He is articulate, and engaging. McCain…well…he is McCain. He has the personality of a stump.

My curiosity has turned to who might be the running mates. For Clinton, I lean towards New Mexico Gov. Richardson. If I remember correctly, she spent super Tuesday at Casa Richardson watching the results. Richardson is of Hispanic heritage. He grew up in Mexico. But he carry’s a "white man’s" name. Much like Ellison, the first Muslim elected to Congress. Of course, he ran using his "white man’s" name, not the Muslim name. If he’d run using his Muslim name, chances are he would not have won. But I digress.

For Obama, a good chance that Kansas Gov. Sebelius could be tapped for the No. 2 spot. She gave the Democrats response to Bush’s State of the Union address. She is fairly easy on the eyes, she is also engaging and well spoken. Of course, she hasn’t done squat for Kansans, but that probably doesn’t matter much. Granted, Kansas doesn’t have all that many electoral votes, but some of the "one of us" votes could spill over into Oklahoma, Missouri and Nebraska. Add to that, it would provide a very good chance for Kansas to blue.

On the GOP side, I’m thinking that McCain made a deal with Romney for the VEEP position. He was leading Huckabee in votes in the primaries, and then just gave up.

But then what do I know, I’m still a few hours short of my Poly-Sci degree anyway.

McCain’s camp obtains strange bedfellows
January 29th, 2008 under Elections, Politics, Propaganda. [ Comments: none ]

John McCain, a decorated veteran and war hero, has made no little amount of buzz regarding his honorable and distinguished service during the Vietnam war. With that in mind, one would have to wonder why his campaign, for all intents and purposes, openly endorses the antics of a hate-ridden blogger who served about 8 months in the Navy, and yet claims to have been a Navy SEAL, have earned multiple purple hearts, along with the distinguished Navy Cross. These claims are in direct violation of the Stolen Valor act. Of course, he’ll claim it is his First Amendment right to defraud people in this manner. But whatever.

The thing is, I’m not certain why Sheridan Folger would praise this hate-mongerer who wouldn’t know the truth if it snuck up and bit him in the ass.

Cristy Li has more about it all here.

Fred puts the smack-down on Huckabee
January 11th, 2008 under Elections, Politics. [ Comments: none ]

Take a look at this simple video. Fred Thompson speaks to so many things that I, and many, many Americans hold near and dear to their hearts.

Seriously, this guy is a true conservative in the same manner as Ronald Reagan.

Student tazered at Kerry event – and it’s all Bush’s fault
September 18th, 2007 under Elections, Government, Leftists, Liberals, Media, Politics, WTF?. [ Comments: 3 ]

This video is somewhat disturbing. It comes to me by way of Lane Hudson over at the Huffington Pos. In it we see a student at the University of Florida asking John Kerry a question about whether or not he was part of the (notorious?) Skull & Bones society while at Yale. Before Kerry could answer, the university police begin to remove the petitioner. When the student complains, they tazer him and forcibly remove him from the building.

While the video itself is terribly disturbing, what really caught my attention (aside from the fact that someone on HuffPost actually posted a video that put a democrat in less than stellar light) was that Hudson tried to spin this incident into somehow being President Bush’s doing. That somehow, because a student who asked a question unfavorable to Senator Kerry was tazered and forcibly removed from the forum, is the responsibility of President Bush, and it happened because he is “edging towards ANOTHER ill-conceived war”.

Please, don’t take my word for it, go and read it yourself. It seems that the far left are grasping at anything and everything these days.

The Party of Hate?
August 15th, 2007 under Politics. [ Comments: none ]

I have long believed, based on first hand observations, that conservatives display much better manners, and much more respect for their fellow human that do liberals. Liberals are often vicious and violent. The shout and scream and call people names and generally try to drown out any viewpoint that is different from their own. They don’t do try to change the minds of anyone, they simply don’t care what one things, as long as they act in accordance with the liberal agenda.

Case in point, There is a fellow named Virgil Griffith at the California Institute of Technology. Virg created a software program called “The Scanner” (ooohh, sound ominous doesn’t it?). The Scanner works by comparing edits made on Wikipedia and traces back to the address of the computer making the edits. Some very interesting things were discovered in the process. But let’s look at two in particular:

Republican party
Apparently replaced the term “occupying forces” with “liberating” in an article referring to the Iraq war. Somewhat less controversially, a Republican staffer also rewrote a biography of American revolutionary leader George Rogers Clark.

Democrat party
Somebody using a computer inside Democrat HQ edited a page on conservative American radio host Rush Limbaugh, calling him “idiotic”, “ridiculous” and labelling his 20 million listeners as “legally retarded”.

See how the Republicans changed a few lines to spin something in a more favorable light to America (and to themselves). While the Democrats just lashed out in anger and hatred and calling names. Calling 20 million Americans “legally retarded”.

Now I pose the question for you to ponder, which party is the party that spews hate?

Dems: country is running smoothly
June 11th, 2007 under Congress, Politics. [ Comments: none ]

They must believe that. How else can one explain the nonsensical, non-binding, non-things being voted on? One can almost hear the Senators now:

“Sigh, there’s nothing to do”
“Hey, I know, let’s try and set a deadline for the withdrawal of troops, that ought to take up a couple of hours”
“Nah, we did that already and it didn’t work. People got kind of pissed”
“Oh, yeah, I almost forgot about that one”
“Ooh ooh, let’s see if we can find any pork in the government to cut. The people always like cutting pork”
“Yeah, but what about our campaign donors? They’ll be pissed. I’d rather have the people pissed than the donors.”
“Oh, you’re right, all the people give us are votes, and I can’t buy a yacht with a vote.”
“Hmmmm.”
“Sigh”
“I’ve got it! Let’s create a news story. It’ll make us look good. We’ll hold a non-binding vote of ‘no-confidence’ for that Gonzalez fella over there at Justice. You know, that uppity beaner there that fired all those fine Democratic attorneys.”
“Why, that’s a grand idea. We can take up lots of time debating and arguing about it before we actually get to a vote. This will make us look busy, and make certain nothing gets done in the meantime. We’ll protect our donors, and fool the people. By George, you’ve hit on a right smart idea there.”

It seems to me, if the Dems have so much time for this witch hunt, which means noting, then they must believe there isn’t any government business of more pressing matters to attend to. Which tells me that the country must be running pretty smoothly right now.

Way to go fellas!

Dennis Miller gives Harry Reid a good once-over

A great video that every freedom loving American should see is over at hotair.com. Dennis Miller (the educated man’s comedian) really rips into Harry Reid. I usually find Miller very funny and insightful, and this one is no exception!

Greensburg: 10,000 DEAD!
May 9th, 2007 under Elections, Politics. [ Comments: 1 ]

Well, according to presidential candidate Barak Obama that is. In reality? 12 died. In reality, in this world, the town of Greensburg, Kansas housed about 1,500 residents.

“In case you missed it, this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died—an entire town destroyed,” the Democratic presidential candidate said in a speech to 500 people packed into a sweltering Richmond art studio for a fundraiser.

This is just a case of wanting to stick it to the government, nothing else. Obama doesn’t give a hoot about Greensburg, or its residents. I don’t have any problem with the man not caring about some podunk rural town in western Kansas. It wouldn’t bother me, nor the fine folks of Greensburg one iota if Obama never mentioned it.

But to mention something like this for politics is just…well…just so like a politician. He did this in order to get his jab at the Bush administration.

Obama mentioned the disaster in Greensburg, Kan., in saying he had been told by the office of Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius that the state’s National Guard had been depleted by its commitment to the Iraq War.

“Turns out that the National Guard in Kansas only had 40 percent of its equipment and they are having to slow down the recovery process in Kansas,” Obama said, his shirt sleeves rolled up and his head glistening with sweat.

In fact, every statement he made about Kansas, and the tragedy in Greensburg, is completely false…well, except for the entire town being destroyed, that part was true. The fact is, Kansas has about 60% of its Guard equipment. The recovery effort only slowed down when the government showed up and kept everyone from getting back to their homes. In retrospect, this is probably a good thing for those seven looters that were captured. I imagine the fine folks of Greensburg would have dealt out a little ‘frontier justice’ if they had been the ones to catch the looters.

At any rate. Obama got his jab. Only in the meantime he made himself look like a hack and an [unmentionable].
