When is an avocado not an avocado?
November 30th, 2006 under Uncategorized. [ Comments: none ]

“It just didn’t taste avocadoey,” said Brenda Lifsey, who used
Kraft Dips Guacamole in a three-layer dip last year.

What the heck?  It didn’t taste avocaodoey?  Fine, DON’T BUY IT.  But to sue a company because you don’t like the way their product tastes?  What kind of two-bit shyster lawyer would even take a case like that?  This whole legal system is getting way out of control.  Personally, I’d like to see a loser pays all process where if you bring a lawsuit against someone and you lose, you pay for your lawyer, their lawyer and all court costs.

The headline in the Daily Mail over in the UK reads

Women talk three times as much as men, says study

The article says:

…women talk almost three times as much as men, with the average woman chalking up 20,000 words in a day – 13,000 more than the average man.

Now the man gets the pill
November 27th, 2006 under Uncategorized. [ Comments: none ]

It seems it may no longer be the girl’s responsibility to provide the birth control for those daring partners that don’t want to get pregnant, but will risk the wrath of AIDS or other STDs.

British scientists have developed a revolutionary pill that men could take as a one-off contraceptive just before a date.

The tablet would prevent a man from being able to impregnate a woman, but within a few hours his fertility would return to normal.

Who can argue with the march of technology making our lives so much the better?  Just pop a pill a couple of hours before the big date, and go to town!

CNet’s Top 10 Must Have Tech Ites

And at the top of their list is (of course) the Sony Playsation 3.  The thing I didn’t know about he PS3 is that it is also a Blu-Ray player, and is Wi-Fi enabled. Even at a pricey $600, it is (I think) the least expensive Blu-Ray player on the market.

All the consoles are in, and our editors have posted a final score in the next-gen gaming war. According to our three-way battle, Sony’s PlayStation 3 is the gaming machine to beat. With high-def games and Blu-ray movies, backward compatibility with prior PS2 and PS1 games, a great UI, and HDMI output, it’s the most well-rounded of the new machines. But its price is a definite barrier: $600 for the Wi-Fi-enabled 60GB version. The $250 Nintendo Wii is a great buy for the budget-minded, while the Xbox 360 has more great games and excellent online play

Oh, if only I had $600!  Sheesh, where is that winning lotto ticket when you need it?

This could only happen in Kansas
November 16th, 2006 under Uncategorized. [ Comments: none ]

Some things can only happen in certain locations in the US because that is the only place where there are enough idiots to cover the odds.  Case in point:

WICHITA, Kan. – A botched kidnapping ended with one of the assailants shooting himself in the groin, Wichita police said.

Gov’ment agents to boost morale

A top female politician ín Holland wants Dutch prostitutes sent abroad with the troops to help them relax.

Annemarie Jorritsma, a politician for the centre-right People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD) and the mayor of the town of Almere, went on national Dutch TV to demand the ‘extra benefits’ for soldiers.

Almost makes you wish you were in the Dutch army, doesn’t it?  Now come on, be honest! :)

The Fat Chick Just Doesn’t Get It!
November 13th, 2006 under Uncategorized. [ Comments: none ]

Ok, back in September, Rosie O’Donnell says:

“Just a minute,” she interrupted. “Radical Christianity is just as threatening as radical Islam in a country like America where we have separation of church and state.” source

Of course, I have never heard of any radical Christian blowing up innocent people. I have never once seen a new report about Christian suicide bombers. I haven’t seen where the Baptists and Lutherans are killing each other in the streets and blowing up each others’ churches. But I guess those violent things that Islamists don’t count in the overall picture.

Now she says

You can walk through life believing in the goodness of the world, or walk through life afraid of anyone who thinks different than you and trying to convert them to your way of thinking…Don’t fear the terrorists. They’re mothers and fathers. source

What kind of idiotic comment is this? They’re mothers and fathers? WTF is up with that? Is she saying these killers and facists are moms and dads just doing what they need to do to survive? Really?

Some people are just so stupid they really should just shut the ffffff….ront door.

Sub Games mean Cold War part 2?
November 13th, 2006 under Uncategorized. [ Comments: none ]

Echos of the past come back as we read that China is stalking the US Pacific Fleet. 20+ years ago it was Russians stalking the Atlantic Fleet. Different ocean same enemy? A submarine apperantly followed the USS Kitty Hawk and it’s entourage before surfacing within firing distance. I blame the USS Kitty Hawk group for this fiasco, the group includes a submarine of our own, plus an airplane, whos job and design is specifically for detecting enemy submarines, but they didn’t see it.

The surfaced submarine was spotted by a routine surveillance flight by one of the carrier group’s planes. The Kitty Hawk battle group includes an attack submarine and anti-submarine helicopters that are charged with protecting the warships from submarine attack.

Of course, we can’t just blame the blokes that were there. The wankers up top have created an atmosphere ripe with conditions for just this type of thing.

Additionally, military intelligence officials said Adm. Fallon has restricted U.S. intelligence-gathering activities against China, fearing that disclosure of the activities would upset relations with Beijing.
The restrictions are hindering efforts to know more about China’s military buildup, the officials said.
