Website delivers relocation assistance
August 31st, 2007 under Adverts. [ Comments: none ]

Over the years, Bigsibling has moved around quite a bit. Let me tell you that, while living in all sorts of different locations is exciting and fun (and makes great stories for where ever you end up next), the actual moving stinks. Well, not the moving so much, but the relocation. Trying to find out all the stuff one needs to know before making an informed decision on what type of place to live in can be difficult from hundreds or even thousands of miles away. But, with the Internet, things get much easier. Now it is easy to find real estate values online so you know you’re not getting swindled paying for house that, in your previous market was worth much more than the new market. Not to mention things like mortgage quotes.

NationalRelocation.com is a central location to find all of this information out. This place is nearly a one-stop shop for relocations. They have it all, they can get you in touch with a Realtor, they have information on foreclosures, movers and even houses for rent. The only thing they don’t have – but which one can find plenty of on the ‘Net, is a cost of living difference section. That is, what you will need to make in your new location to maintain your current standard of living. If I had one request for them to put on their website, that is the only thing I can find lacking.

I am announcing that I will announce…
August 31st, 2007 under Elections. [ Comments: 1 ]

Former senator, and pretty darned good actor Fred Thompson has made an announcement, that he is going to announce his bid for the presidency. For Bigsibling, this is good news. The last actor-turned-politician we had a president, did a darned fine job in the office.

Of course, Thompson is a politician-turned-actor-turned-politician, but that is close enough for me.

The official website (I think anyway) is “I’m With Fred” site. From there one can download widgets stuff for their blog or website or social networking site or whatever.

Group dedictated to combatting censorship
August 27th, 2007 under Censorship, Free Speech. [ Comments: 1 ]

I found this site and think it is definately a good place to keep up with. Global Voices Online is a resource dedicated to securing and maintaining freedom of speech. Not just in American, but around the globe. They, like me, see censorship as one of the most vile components any society can level upon its people.

It doesn’t matter the reasons for the censorship. Whether you think someone is spewing vile hatred, or preaching that if you don’t accept Jesus your not going to heaven, or if they are saying if you don’t accept Allah, you are going to die. Freedom of speech is freedom of speech. It doesn’t apply only to logical, reasoning, well thought out concepts. It applies to idiots and morons as well. ALL is protected speech.

I’m sure this is exactly the kind of group that will soon be on the ‘Rev.’ Sutter’s hate monger list.

Avery Doninger v. LMS update
August 24th, 2007 under Academia, Education, Free Speech. [ Comments: 3 ]

In an update to a post I made here regarding Miss Avery Doninger and the problems she is facing for calling her high school administrators “douchbags” [sic] on her blog. The civil trial between Miss Doninger and the Lewis Mills High School is under way, and I have to say, the school admins are screwing this one up. I thought they had a good chance to win this thing, but their recent actions are like something out of a Monty Python skit, only without the funny.

The school officials, in June, placed a reprimand in Doninger’s file for an incident which took place in April. That seems fishy of the extreme. Also it is learned that some students, at the student elections assembly, sported t-shirts which read “Team Avery, LMS students support free speech”, and Lewis Mills High School Principal Karissa Niehoff would not allow the students into the assembly wearing the shirts. This is bad on Neihoff’s part. While I fully support Niehoff’s attempt at teaching the disrespectful and foul-mouthed student a lesson in civility, she went a bit far on that one.

Maybe it is time that Niehoff learn a lesson in free speech as well.

Seeking Opinions
August 23rd, 2007 under Me. [ Comments: 3 ]

I need some opinions on what to give a woman who has put up with me for 18 years, bore me three children, and is such a MILF that it makes her sons’ friend uncomfortable at times. Some years ago I did the gold plated rose thing (huge hit), a couple of years ago I had a customized romance novel printed up with her as the main character (not so huge hit – a huge bomb actually).

Anyway, my first thought is a trip to a day spa. But I’m not 100% certain on that. She has never indicated that would be something of interest to her (but I can’t really imagine a woman that wouldn’t like that).

At any rate, I am open to any and all suggestions. I have almost two weeks to complete this task.

Thanks for your input.

It’s good to be an American
August 22nd, 2007 under Censorship, Constitutional Rights, Free Speech. [ Comments: none ]

In America, we have what we refer as Freedom of Speech. This is guaranteed to each and every one of us by the 1st amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America. Nothing can take this freedom away from us.

As an American, in America, I have the right to say that I have nothing but contempt for Nancy Pelosi and her ilk. I have the right to say that America is the greatest country in the universe, and all other countries are second rate. I have the right to say that I believe all Islamofacists should be given a one-way ticket to meet their maker.

In Canada, I can’t say those things. In Canada it is illegal for me to deliver “messages that are likely to expose a person to hatred or contempt”. The Canuck government is in somewhat of a quandary. They pretend their people have freedom of speech. But they have laws that dictate what their people are able to talk about in a public forum. The problem is that many Canadian bloggers and forums are moving to web hosts here in America, where their government is unable to filter the message their citizens want to express.

God it’s good to be an American!

Proof we are wearing down the terrorists?
August 22nd, 2007 under Humor. [ Comments: 2 ]

It seems that the Islamofacists are scraping the bottom of the barrel for talent these days. Take into account “Omar” and “Ahmed”. Omar is Turkish, Ahmed is Palestinian (maybe) but traveling on a Syrian passport. These two smarter-than-your-average-terrorist-wannabes molded some clay into a cylinder, stuck some wires in it and tried to hijack a place from Cyprus to Istanbul. They wanted to go to Tehran, but the plane landed in Turkey anyway. No one was hurt during the Three Stooges like hijack attempt.

These two baboons are certainly no Muḥammad ibn Mūsā al-Khwārizmī.

Sharia Law: alive and well and not only in the Mid-East
August 21st, 2007 under Crime, Islam, Religion, Stupid Laws. [ Comments: 1 ]

For those that say the Islamic Sharia law is only practiced in “Iraq and some remote tribal areas of Pakistan”, I present to you 18 men from Nigeria. Not from Pakistan (remotely tribal or otherwise) and not from Iraq, but from Nigeria. You probably recognize the country as the place where the king/queen/ambassador or [insert title here] has recently died and left a large sum of money (MILLIONS!) that the dead person’s brother/sister/niece or [insert relative here] needs your help to claim. But I digress…

Anyway these men were partying at a hotel when they got really wild and crazy and dressed up as women. OOPS! That is illegal under Sharia law. Their punishment can be up to a year in prison, and 20 lashes with a cane. The men were at the hotel to attend a homosexual marriage. That has to get the lefties panties in a bunch. Who do you root for? The poor misunderstood Muslims, or the gays that are persecuted by them?

Gender Reassignment is a RIGHT dammit!
August 21st, 2007 under WTF?. [ Comments: 2 ]

Oh yeah, government run, socialized medicine is REALLY the way we need to go in this country. Sure it is.

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil – Brazil’s public health system will begin providing free sex-change operations in compliance with a court order, the Health Ministry said Friday.

Federal prosecutors from Rio Grande do Sul state had argued that sexual reassignment surgery is covered under a constitutional clause guaranteeing medical care as a basic right.

Oh right I’m certain there are plenty in the “but it won’t be like that here” crowd. Rrriiiiggghhhttt.
